About the Role:

Perform daily batch mixes under the supervision of experienced Mixers / Compounders. Support department and production needs while adhering to all safety and PPE requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete 800 – 1400 gallons batch mixes as assigned while adhering to all formulation specifications and instructions which include the pumping in of solvents, pigments, resin, and other chemicals. Correct mixing errors by following approved raw material substitutes and mixing instructions provided by the Quality department.
  • Count, weigh, and record each material used as required by the formulation specification sheet and instructions. Collect mix sample for final testing prior to completing all necessary batch sheet and solvent ticket documentation.
  • Set-up, adjust, and operate mixing equipment to meet daily production schedule. This includes the raising / lowering of equipment, cleaning, opening / closing of valves, hose changes, setting guides, and removing potential contaminants.
  • Report critical inventory levels of essential raw materials
  • Transfer excess mix into designated drums / totes using pump.
  • Assist in the supervision of daily tanker deliveries. This includes watching for leaks and bringing a sample to the lab for testing prior to the receipt of the delivery.
  • Correct mixing errors by following approved raw material substitutes and mixing instructions provided by the Quality department.
  • Move and relocate loaded and empty pallets using electrical lifting devices.
  • Perform required daily preventive maintenance checks as directed by the Mixing Lead. Prepare the tanks and lines for scheduled mixes.
  • Identify and isolate any mix(s) deemed non-conforming by the QC Lab.
  • Must adhere to all standard and specialized PPE requirements at all times. This includes but is not limited to the use of half-face respirator, face shield, gloves, safety glasses, still toed shoes, etc.

Education/Training Certification - REQUIRED

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to acquire and maintain forklift certification

Skills (Technical):

REQUIRED

  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Basic chemistry concepts of related product
PREFERRED
  • Experience operating a pallet jack and / or forklift
Skills (Interpersonal):
REQUIRED
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to identify inefficiencies and drive rigor to the process
Physical Requirements – REQUIRED
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and move up and down stairs
Years of Experience – REQUIRED
  • 1+ years of experience working as a Mixer / Compounder in a chemical manufacturing environment
Years of Experience – PREFERRED
  • 2+ years of experience working as a Mixer / Compounder in a chemical manufacturing environment
